![]() ![]() ∙ In 2017, their EP Roots Party, featuring guest vocals from Jamaican singer Protoje on the track “Gunsmoke,” topped the Billboard Reggae Albums chart for two weeks. ∙ They scored their big breakthrough with 2014’s Representing, which spent 66 weeks on Billboard’s’s Reggae Albums chart, where it peaked at No. ∙ The Harvest, released in 2009 and featuring guest vocals from P.O.D.’s Sonny Sandoval on the song “Warning,” was their first album to find a wider audience outside Southern California. On July 19, 2011, Tribal Seeds released their first EP titled, Soundwaves, which peaked at 2 on the Billboard Top Reggae Albums chart. Formed in 2005 by the Jacobo brothers, singer Steven and keyboard. ∙ The band’s self-titled second album earned them Best World Music honors at 2008’s San Diego Music Awards. Based in San Diego, rock-reggae band Tribal Seeds come at their music from a different angle, more influenced by bands like Steel Pulse and Aswad than the common touchstone of Sublime. ∙ Inspired by the music and message of Bob Marley, Steel Pulse, and Peter Tosh, the Jacobo brothers formed Tribal Seeds while they were both still in high school in San Diego, CA.
